What We Do

FEMALE HEALTH & SANITATION

Over 14% of women in rural India, suffer from Pelvic Inflammatory Disease and it is one of major causes of infertility and maternal deaths in India. Swayamsiddha Society works to uplift sanitary, biological and mentail health of women in rural India. Members of Swayamsiddha Society organize health awareness camps, spreading knowledge about benefits of proper sanitation. Females are also tested for anaemia and recommended lifestyle choices. The society has also installed sanitary pads vending machines and incinerators in rural parts of the country, aiming to provide affordable sanitary practices. Have a look at some of our projects:

GIRL CHILD EDUCATION

Swayamsiddha Society supports the Beto Bachao, Beti Padhao (Save the girl child, educate the girl child) campaign in India. The society is committed to raising the level of education and literacy in rural India and to helping disadvantaged & under priviledged women and children realize their full potential. Society members have organized various drives in villages to provide education to children of all ages. We have also organized tree plantation camps, to promote birth of girl child.

FIGHT AGAINST SEXUAL ABUSE

Child sexual abuse is a very common issue in India and cases of abuse are reported against both girls and boys. It can lead to short and long term, physical as well mental trauma. One of the ways to combat this evil is by promoting effective communication between childrenand parents. Swayamsiddha Society took an initiative to combat this problem by spreading awareness among school children about different forms of abuse and encouraging them to talk freely about such issues with their parents. Till date, the society has covered over 200 schools and 50,000 students. We still have a long way to go but with each step that we take, we are hoping to reduce this problem.

GOVERNMENT SUPPPORT IN RURAL INDIA

Swayamsiddha Society, led by Dr. Ranjana Sharma, works along with government employees to understand and implement social upliftment policies in rural India. As part of this work, Dr. Ranjana Sharma also organized various workshops for government employees laying emphasis on communication and inter-personal relationships. The goal behind these workshops is to enable to employees to better serve the rural public.
